Fig. 3. The rectal temperature of male mice was repeatedly measured twice using a 10-min interval after various daily or weekly intervals. All data are the mean temperature (± SEM) in °C. One group of singly housed animals (N= 8) was repeatedly measured twice on days 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 10, 12, 15, and 16 (panel A). T, is the basal temperature, T2 the temperature after lOmin, AT=T2—Tl. A * at T\ and T2 indicates significant differences (p < 0.05) from the corresponding Ti and T2 at day 1. A .at (top) indicates a significant difference from basal at day 1. A second group of singly housed mice (/V = 8) is repeatedly measured twice with weekly intervals (panel B). A * at Ti and T2 indicates significant differences (p < 0.05) from the corresponding T{ and T2 at day 1. A third group of singly housed mice (N= 8) is measured only once (Tt + T2 with lOmin interval) after isolation intervals of 1 day, 1 or 2 weeks (panel C). No significant differences were present.
