Ovarian cancer is one of the most chemotherapy-sensitive malignancies, with 60% to 80% of women with newly diagnosed advanced disease anticipated to achieve both substantial objective and subjective responses to primary therapy.1 Despite this fact, most women who respond to this treatment ultimately experience a relapse of the disease process.2 Thus, the need to ultimately consider a second-line treatment strategy in ovarian cancer is the rule, rather than the exception.
