Take up the hold with the grip described in photograph 21.50. Produce a buckling into sidebending at the target segment, and pull back slightly on the clavicle with the posterior hand while prising the spinous process toward yourself. The secondary components of sideshifting, antero-posterior shifting and compression are balanced. At the optimum barrier, the thrust is applied by a stabilizing force with the posterior hand and a rotation force with the anterior hand.
