According to a report by Jurenka (2008), pomegranate and its constituents have safely been consumed for centuries without adverse effects. As for pomegranate seed oil, adverse effects are not known as yet. However, an extremely high dose of pomegranate seed oil may not be recommended, because punicic acid in pomegranate seed oil and conjugated fatty acids are known to exhibit lower oxidation stability than non-conjugated fatty acids.
