Cutting back on caffeine

Caffeine is a stimulant that many people consume by drinking coffee, tea or certain types of soft drink. Researchers have discovered that women who consume a lot of caffeine — more than three cups of coffee per day — may take longer to conceive.

Not much is known about the effects of caffeine on IVF outcomes, but one study found that the higher a woman's caffeine intake, the lower her chances of a live birth. At this stage, men's caffeine consumption hasn't been found to affect IVF success.

You can continue to enjoy the odd latte while you're on IVF treatment, but if you consume several caffeine beverages per day, cutting down on your intake is a good idea.
