Most of the issues discussed in this article have been addressed at conferences specifically convened to present advances in food composition data. In the United States, the National Nutrient Databank Conference has been held annually for the past 28 years. In addition, the International Food Data Conference has been held biannually for the past 10 years. The proceedings from several recent conferences have been published in the Journal of Food Composition and Analysis.
