Summary

Based on our experience, microfracture is a safe and effective method to treat chondral defects of the hip. Early results have shown microfracture significantly improves functional outcomes and decreases pain in the majority of patients treated. The repair tissue created by microfracture appears tough and durable, yet it is smooth enough to function similarly to the patient's normal articular cartilage.
