Effect of Tea Polyphenols on ROS and Aging

Premature agingmay also be a result of cellular ROS (114-116). The green tea polyphenol epigallocatechin gallate inhibited the markers for ROS and nitrogen species (116-118). It can be concluded that regular intake of 6 or more cups of tea per day facilitates healthy aging, which has been demonstrated on cellular systems, in animal models, and also, through studies of humans where regular tea intake is part of a health-promoting lifestyle, as in Japan and India (119).
