Recovery from Caesarean birth

After a couple of hours in the recovery room, you'll be moved to a room in the maternity unit of the hospital. Over the next 24 hours, your doctor and nurses can continue to monitor your breathing rate, heart rate, temperature and blood pressure. They'll also monitor the condition of your abdominal dressing, the amount of urine you're producing and the amount of post-pregnancy bleeding (lochia) you're experiencing. Your nurses will also periodically check your uterus, making sure that it's remaining contracted.
