The SF-6D is a simplification of the SF-36® index. It is a method by which quality-adjusted life-years may be derived empirically. It has six dimensions. Any patient who completes the SF-36® or the SF-12® can be uniquely classified according to the SF-6D. The SF-6D includes preference weights obtained from a sample of the UK general population using the standard gamble technique. Potential users may contact the owners on www.shef.ac.uk/sf-6d/ info.htm.
