Wrist Tendinitis

The tendons of the wrist are encased in a tendon sheath, the tenosynovium. Tendon sheaths provide for smooth, friction-free sliding of the tendons. Overuse of the wrist in sports such as racquet sports, rowing, weightlifting, gymnastics, and any ball games and also repetitive stress from using a keyboard can cause inflammation, swelling, and thickening of the tendon sheath, which constricts the smooth movement of the tendons inside the sheath.

Dry needling acupuncture is a very effective modality for alleviating this condition. Two to three needles per square centimeter can be applied to the inflamed and swollen tissue and to the associated muscles. Two treatment sessions per week are recommended.
