Quadriceps tendinitis is characterized by pain at the suprapatellar area, either medial or lateral, and is caused by repetitive overload of the quadriceps muscles and their tendons. The pain can be felt during uphill riding, high-mileage riding, or riding into a head wind. The lower leg may exhibit excessive varus or valgus deformity.
Dry needling acupuncture therapy is very effective for reducing this pain by treating the quadriceps muscles and tendons. Nevertheless, other factors such as the alignment of the bicycle should be checked and corrected to avoid biomechanical misalignment.
