Concussion is a debilitating injury in sports. It is classified in three grades. Grade 1 concussion is characterized by confusion without amnesia and with no loss of consciousness; grade 2 is characterized by confusion with amnesia but no loss of consciousness; and grade 3 is characterized by loss of consciousness.
Dry needling acupuncture is very helpful in treating all three grades of concussion and postconcussion syndrome. The primary acu-reflex points and a few empirical points, including the median nerve points and the tips of the fingers, should be needled.
