In an avulsion fracture, a tendon or ligament pulls away from the bone at its attachment, breaking the tendon or pulling a piece of the bone away with it. Forceful twisting, flexing, extending, or direct impact on a joint inducing forceful stretching can cause this injury.
Dry needling acupuncture is very effective for reducing pain, swelling, and inflammation. Needles can be applied to the ARPs on the injured area and associated muscles, in two treatment sessions per week.
To prevent avulsion, weekly treatment for reducing stress in the musculoskeletal system is highly recommended.
