Conclusion

This chapter covers a spectrum of disease seen in adolescent rheumatology. Other presentations are covered in detail elsewhere in this book. It is no means exhaustive, but gives an idea of the challenges that face those caring for adolescents within the field of rheumatology and related areas. Along with clinical acumen, an appreciation of the special needs of adolescents is required, particularly when dealing with schooling issues, career choices, and evolving sexual and risk-taking behavior. For good holistic care, multidisciplinary input is essential.
