Hallucinogenic drugs distort perceptions and cause hallucinations. They include LYSERGIC ACID

Diethylamide (LSD), Phencyclidine (PCP), Mescaline, Psilocybin mushrooms, and several newer drugs with hallucinatory and stimulant effects (called ''designer drugs,'' e.g. ecstasy. Apart from profound effects on perceptions, responsiveness, learning, and judgment are affected. Some users experience flashbacks—spontaneous vivid recollections of experiences that occurred while under the influence of hallucinogens.
